Wellbeing walk for Sydney veteran families

Wellbeing walk for war widows, defence and veteran families — Sydney Bastille Festival

Who is this free activity for and why?

Join us for a relaxed and friendly wellbeing walk through the Bastille Festival in Sydney on Thursday 17 July 2025 brought to you by our Wellbeing Program. This free wellbeing activity is open to all war widows, defence and veteran families — including partners, parents, children and carers of those who have served in the ADF.

This gentle group walk offers a chance to enjoy the fresh air, take in the atmosphere of the festival, and connect with others who share similar experiences of defence life. It’s a simple way to support your wellbeing and meet others in a welcoming, peer-based setting.

Wellbeing walk

War widows, defence and veteran families are invited to come together for a leisurely stroll through the Sydney Bastille Festival.

We will wander around the festival enjoying a warm drink or small pastry along the way connecting over stories and current affairs. Walking is something that we do every day without thinking and yet walking has many health benefits which when we bring our awareness to how it makes our bodies feel, it suddenly becomes a mindful experience supporting healthy regulation and wellbeing. Come and join us to experience this for yourself!

Circular Quay station is just an 8min train ride from Central station.

Wear comfortable, weather appropriate clothing. This includes but is not limited to; a hat, sunscreen, enclosed shoes that provide effective support to walk a moderate distance. Also, consider wearing long sleeves and pants to reduce the risk of sun exposure and if necessary, wet weather gear which may include a rain jacket.

There is no cost for this event. Your coffee or pastry will be covered by Families of Veterans Guild.

Previous attendees to wellbeing activities said “I just wanted to express my gratitude for being able to connect with such a wonderful group. It was such a great opportunity to do a self-care activity and get to know some of the other attendees at the same time.”
