Wellbeing Events

“One day you will tell your story of how you overcame what you went through, and it will be someone else’s survival guide” – Brene Brown.

This is what our wellbeing events are all about: creating a place for Defence and Veteran Families to connect, meet like-minded peers, build a network and share wonderful insights and powerful stories. Our Space shines the light on the families of veterans.

Sound Healing & Peer Support Session - June

Veteran family members are invited to attend a sound healing session followed by a picnic at the beach in Cronulla, courtesy of the Our Space Program.

This event aims to support peer connection and stress reduction. Veteran families are invited to come together and experience a unique modality of relaxation through sound healing. The session will be facilitated by UNSW approved music tutor and certified yoga instructor Bianca Teremi from the Heart and Soul Yoga studio in Cronulla.

The event will conclude with a picnic where attendees can continue connecting with their peers over a healthy lunch whilst taking in the views of beautiful Cronulla beach.

Intergenerational Community Art Day

The Families of Veterans Guild invites war widows and defence family members to a special community event held at our head office in Chatswood across two days, the 12th and 13th of July. This event brings together veteran families across many generations to collaborate on a piece of art that will be displayed at our head office. An intergenerational opportunity to connect over the beauty of making art together.

We know that one of the challenges facing veteran families is the disconnection from extended family and community. So we want to unite veteran families from many generations to connect, share the wisdom and life experiences.

Sound Healing Session - July

The Families of Veterans Guild invites war widows and veteran family members to attend a sound healing session at our Chatswood head office, courtesy of the Our Space program.

This event aims to support stress reduction. Veteran families are invited to come together and experience a unique modality of relaxation through sound healing. The session will be facilitated by UNSW approved music tutor and certified yoga instructor Bianca Teremi from the Heart and Soul Yoga studio in Cronulla. Attendees will hear a variety of calming sounds, including crystal singing bowls, promoting wellness and relaxation.

Previous attendees said “I have never been good at meditating, but this sound healing session dropped me into a deep state of relaxation without even trying! I felt so calm afterward as if I awoke from a deep restorative sleep. I cannot wait to do it again”.
