Try something creative: free watercolour painting for veteran families
Looking for a low-pressure, creative activity to unwind and meet others? We’re inviting war widows, defence and veteran families to join us for a free watercolour painting session in Solid Rock Defence Ministry on Saturday 16 August 2025.
Open to anyone connected to defence service — including partners, widows, parents and carers — this session is part of our Wellbeing Program and is designed to support connection, creativity and self-care in a relaxed group setting.
Watercolour painting
War widows, defence and veteran families are invited to come together for an afternoon of watercolour painting. Facilitated by Social Worker, Gabby Steel, and supported by Wellbeing Support Officer Kerrie Teo, veteran families will be guided to create their own artwork. Afternoon tea will be provided by Solid Rock Defence Ministry.
Watercolour is washable, however wear old clothes just in case. If you have any other paint brushes, please feel free to bring along to use and find what works for you.
There is no cost for this activity. Your watercolour painting session and afternoon tea will be covered by Families of Veterans Guild and Solid Rock Defence Ministry.
Previous attendees to wellbeing activities said “I’m grateful for the chance to connect with such an amazing group. It was a wonderful opportunity to engage in self-care while meeting new people and sharing experiences.”
