We joined the Cronulla ladies in celebrating and honouring our newest ‘life member’, Mary Tagg, who turned 100 years young on April 1st.
It was a delightful gathering set against the backdrop of the stunning views offered by the Cronulla RSL, overlooking the beach and the iconic sand dunes where Mad Max was filmed.
Norma, the club coordinator, commenced the meeting with the Australian national anthem, followed by the recitation of the ODE and the war widows’ motto.
Apologies were noted from those unable to attend, well wishes were extended to those who were unwell, and a warm welcome was given to the newest member Laural Clark. Throughout the meeting, Norma provided updates from the recent Coordinators Meeting and newsletter.
The meeting concluded with Lynne Boyd presenting Mary the framed life member certificate and pin while the ladies presented a beautiful bouquet of native flowers along with a card signed by all the members. A beautiful birthdays cake arrived to be shared among all the members.
The Cronulla Sutherland District War Widows’ Social Club gathers every month and often host guest speakers at their meeting. Theme can be poetry, pearling, maritime history and anything of interest for the ladies. Often the guest speakers stay to have lunch so they can chat further with them.
