Family movie afternoon: ‘The Secret Garden’ screening
This school holidays war widows, defence and veteran families are invited to join us for an afternoon at the movies. Watch The Secret Garden on the big screen at the National Film and Sound Archive of Australia. When a young girl is orphaned in colonial India, she’s sent to live with an uncle in a forbidding mansion in Yorkshire under the eye of his stern housekeeper, Mrs Medlock (Maggie Smith). She soon discovers her dead aunt’s beautiful secret garden, as well as her bedridden cousin, who’s never been outside. This adaptation of Frances Hodgson Burnett’s beloved novel is wise, beautiful and moving for viewers of all ages.
You are welcome to bring your own food and drinks to enjoy at the cinemas.
There is no cost for this activity. Your movie ticket will be covered by Families of Veterans Guild.
Previous attendees to Wellbeing activities said “I really appreciate the opportunity to connect with such a supportive group. It was a perfect way to focus on self-care and make meaningful connections with others.”
