Embracing summer: painting seashells for war widows, defence and veteran families
On Monday 19 January, we invite war widows, defence and veteran families to join our Wellbeing Team for an evening of creativity and connection painting seashells online. This session is designed as a simple way to pause and focus on self-care while enjoying a mindful activity that fits the summer season.
Painting seashells offers more than just a creative outlet, it’s an opportunity to slow down, share time with others who understand the unique journey of defence life, and bring a touch of summer inspiration into your home. No experience is needed; just come along and enjoy the process in a supportive, welcoming space.
Painting seashells
War widows, defence and veteran families are invited to come together for an evening of painting seashells. Facilitated by Social Workers, Gabby, Hayley and Evelyn, veteran families will be guided to make seashell art, a great way to focus on self-care and bring a bit of summer ocean joy into your home.
Please have a cup of water, a board or something to use underneath your paint and seashells that can get wet, any paintbrushes you wish to use, a lead pencil, and an old towel for drying the paintbrush during the activity. Paint is washable, however wear old clothes just in case. If you have any other paint brushes, please feel free to bring along to use and find what works for you.
Previous attendees to wellbeing activities said “I’m grateful for the chance to connect with such an amazing group. It was a wonderful opportunity to engage in self-care while meeting new people and sharing experiences.”
