Nature wellbeing hike for defence and veteran families
Join us on Thursday 26 March to take part in a guided wellbeing hike, facilitated by our Wellbeing Team. This outdoor session offers an opportunity to step away from daily routines, enjoy fresh air and movement, and connect with others in the veteran community while exploring a local natural setting.
Spending time outdoors and walking together can support both physical and mental wellbeing whilst providing you with a strong sense of achievement after completion!
Wellbeing hike
Defence and veteran families are invited to come together for a hike from The Link at Ginninderry to Shepherds Lookout. This 7.3km hike follows a formed track and takes approximately 2.5 hours, offering an opportunity to enjoy the natural landscape while connecting with peers in a welcoming and relaxed environment.
Please note that dogs are not permitted on the reserve. Participants should be aware of snakes on the track. A good level of fitness is required. The walk includes stiles that require climbing over and follows a narrow dirt path with some steep drop-offs.
Carry water and snacks for each participant. Wear comfortable, weather appropriate clothing. This includes but is not limited to; a hat, sunscreen, enclosed shoes that provide effective support to walk a moderate distance. Also, consider wearing long sleeves and pants to reduce the risk of sun exposure and if necessary, wet weather gear which may include a rain jacket.
There is no cost for this activity.
Previous attendees to wellbeing activities said “I really appreciate the opportunity to connect with such a supportive group. It was a perfect way to focus on self-care and make meaningful connections with others.”
