Make your own sun catchers: free online workshop for war widows, defence and veteran families

Join us online on Thursday 23 October 2025 for a free hanging sun catchers workshop. Open to all war widows, defence and veteran families, this session offers a step-by-step guided activity to create your own kookaburra and wattle sun catchers in a supportive space.

Facilitated by our Wellbeing Team, the workshop is designed to support self-care through creativity and connection.

Hanging sun catchers workshop

War widows, defence and veteran families are invited to come together for a hanging sun catchers session. Facilitated by social workers, Gabby Steel and Hayley Lam, veteran families will be guided step-by-step to create their own kookaburra and wattle hanging sun catchers in a relaxed online session. It will be a great opportunity to connect, share, and enjoy meaningful time with others in the veteran community.

There is no cost for this event. Your sun catcher kit and postage will be covered by Families of Veterans Guild.

Previous attendees to Wellbeing activities said “I’m grateful for the chance to connect with such an amazing group. It was a wonderful opportunity to engage in self-care while meeting new people and sharing experiences.”

Please note: Choking hazard – small parts. Activity requires use of an oven. Follow usage instructions carefully.
