Christmas crafting session and lunch for war widows, defence and veteran families

We’re inviting war widows, defence and veteran families to join us for some Christmas activities and lunch at our Chatswood office on Friday 5 December 2025. Together we’ll make lavender felt hearts, write Christmas cards for war widows, and share lunch in a relaxed group setting.

This free session will be facilitated by our Wellbeing Team, offering a warm and welcoming space to connect, create, and spread some Christmas cheer within the veteran community. All materials and lunch are provided.

Christmas activities and lunch

War widows, along with defence and veteran families, are warmly invited to join us for Christmas activities at our Chatswood office. Led by social workers Gabby Steel and Hayley Lam, participants will be guided in making lavender felt hearts, one to keep and others to contribute to our grief packs, which are gifted to veteran families navigating loss. We will also write Christmas cards to war widows, sending them some Christmas cheer in the mail. This is a meaningful way to create, connect, and give back. Lunch will be provided, making it a relaxed and enjoyable way to spend time with others. 

Hop on the new Metro train (just a quick 14min ride from either Central to Chatswood or Ryde to Chatswood). Feel free to explore the lively streets of Chatswood, with its great shops, dining, and unique attractions.

There is no cost for this activity. Your materials and lunch will be covered by Families of Veterans Guild.

Create festive baubles: free workshop for war widows, defence and veteran families

Join us on Friday 28 November 2025 at the Queanbeyan Veteran and Family Hub for a free Christmas bauble workshop. Open to all war widows, defence and veteran families, this festive session offers a relaxed space to get creative, make handmade decorations, and enjoy time with others.

Part of our Wellbeing Program, the workshop is designed to bring people together with something fun and let attendees go home with their creation to hang on their Christmas tree!

War widows, along with defence and veteran families, are warmly invited to join us at the Queanbeyan Veteran and Family Hub for a festive Christmas Bauble Workshop. This creative and uplifting event offers a wonderful opportunity to connect with others while making beautiful handmade decorations to celebrate the season. All materials will be provided, and participants can enjoy a delicious morning tea as they craft, chat, and share in the spirit of community and Christmas cheer.

There is no cost for this activity. Your Christmas baubles workshop and morning will be covered by Families of Veterans Guild and Queanbeyan Veteran and Family Hub.

An act of recognition and connection

This November, we invite you to join us at our Chatswood office to take part in a Christmas card writing session. Together, we will write Christmas wishes for war widows in our community.

This activity is open to all war widows, defence and veteran families. It is a way to come together, strengthen connections, and give back to those who carry the burden of service.

Facilitated by our Wellbeing Team, the session provides time to connect with others while contributing to something meaningful. Lunch and all materials will be provided.

Writing Christmas cards to war widows

War widows, along with defence and veteran families, are warmly invited to join us at our Chatswood office for a festive and creative session. Together, we’ll write Christmas cards to all widows in the organisation, offering a meaningful way to connect, pause, and celebrate the spirit of the season. This is also a wonderful opportunity to give back, volunteering to send heartfelt Christmas cards. Lunch will be provided, making it a relaxed and enjoyable way to spend time with others during the holidays. 

Choose the days that work best for you. You’re welcome to drop in at any time and don’t need to stay for the entire session.
