We are excited to host an information session for veterans\’ families at the ACT Veterans and Families Expo on 25 November 2023. We are also happy to support the event through the provision of children’s activities and ice-cold snacks.

Proudly hosted by RSL ACT in partnership with the ACT Government, the inaugural Veterans and Families Expo will take place on 25 November 25 2023, at the Australian Catholic University’s Canberra Campus in Watson.

This free event provides an opportunity for the ACT veteran community to explore and gain an understanding of local information, support, services and programs available to veterans and their families in Canberra and surrounds.

The Our Space ACT session will run from 11.30am, and we will also have a stall on the expo floor. If you are in Canberra, Goulburn, Yass, Queanbeyan, Jerrabomberra, Hall, Collector, Sutton, Murrumbateman, Cooma or anywhere else around the ACT, come along, we would love to see you there!

We gathered with local families for a jam-packed family fun day featuring free food from the Veterans Support Centre Belconnen food van, free ice cream at the Mellabella Gelato cart, and of course coffee from the ShotClock Espresso coffee cart!

Our Space has grown from an online support group into a face-to-face group that has now opened in the ACT! Stay tuned for further spaces opening soon!

We would like to give our special thanks to ACT Minister for Veterans Ms Emma Davidson MLA – Member for Murrumbidgee, AWWNSW State President Queen Dunbar and member Barbara Morris for joining us to officially launch Our Space in the ACT, for spending time with our attendees and for giving moving and inspirational speeches.

At this launch event, you will hear about our plans for Our Space, other programs and support available to the families of veterans in Canberra, and engage in some fun activities for all ages.

Our Space is a safe space for those of us connected to ADF Service such as widows, and spouses of veterans to come together and just be. It is a safe place to share our experiences, our thoughts, and our feelings. It is a place where we are respectful of each other and maintain each other’s privacy.

It is not a counseling forum, it does not provide clinical services. It is an informal forum for peers to connect.

We will have the ability to connect online regularly. Bring a cup of tea, coffee, wine, and water and chat.
